a brief biography

I was born in 1958 in Germany. From early age I loved drawing, in particular people and landscapes. From age 15 I travelled in Germany and later in other European countries, living and working in several European cities.

I drew and painted, frequently selling my work at market stalls. Between 1978 and 1983 I worked as designer, musician, dancer and entertainer, in 1984 with my own band in Amsterdam.

In 1985 I moved to the UK, married and gave birth to two sons. In 1988 I took several It courses at Newham College and University of East London.

In 1993 I created a series of drawings that represented my increasing metaphysical awareness, in the form of mandalas and a year later, started a small business designing clothes and fashion accessories to be sold at market stalls.

I returned to College in 2000 and studied subjects from digital art to multimedia. In 2004, accomplished in the use of Adobe Photoshop and Multi Media Applications I started to work freelance as Graphic and Web Designer.

Today I study Music Technology to complete my audio-visual training, and in my spare time, create an on-line shop to sell cards and posters of my artwork.

artist statement

Genie Weaver visual art illustrates her spiritual development and growing metaphysical awareness. Every image represents a significant learning process, mostly arranged in form of mandalas. The tantric approach signifies that every aspect of life originates within, reaches out to actualise it’s being and, eventually, leads back to its source.

Genie’s work is split into two sections, the original mandalas, colour drawings were created in 1993, the images realised during meditation. Every insight has been represented symbolically to match the underlying pattern of the actual process, communicating directly to the auditor’s sub-concious in order to be transferred as a complete entity. The message will be understood by the conscious mind and assimilated by use of meditation.

The digital images comprise of the expressions of several inner journeys. A majority of this work is dedicated to the seasons of the year and the various messages they convey. They are synchronised with the pagan festivals and celebrate a holistic approach to life. A number of images are based on the underlying structure of life, the mandala that mirrors the organisation within biological systems and its communication with its brothers and sisters, everything contains and is contained by everything else.
